About
From their FetLife profile: Pandemonium in the Prairies (PiP) is a multi-day conference taking place annually in May in Saskatoon, SK featuring educational workshops, dungeon parties, a vendor market, and more!
The purpose of this conference is to provide a platform for learning, discussion, and support for those who have a personal interest in BDSM/Kink/Leather. People of all genders, orientations, and kink-interest levels are welcome at PiP.
We seek to provide presenter opportunities to those from traditionally underrepresented groups, which include, but are not limited to, women and gender minorities, persons with disabilities (whether visible or not visible), Indigenous Peoples, racialized individuals, and individuals from 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
History
Pandemonium in the Prairies was launched by AWAKENS - A Women’s Association for Kinky Education & Networking Saskatoon. AWAKENS purpose was to provide a platform for learning, discussion and support for kinky women who have a positive personal interest in BDSM/Kink/Leather. AWAKENS discussion group met every other week to share ideas, discuss specific topics, be creative, get support and have fellowship among kinky women.
Pandemonium in the Prairies ran as a single day kink event in 2018 and was open to all genders. In 2019, PiP ran as a full weekend event designed to highlight women and trans speakers, with registration available to all genders. Unfortunately, 2020 and 2021 conference offerings were put on hold due to Covid-19. During this time, the organizing group for PiP decided to refocus solely on running Pandemonium in the Prairies and AWAKENS officially closed in late 2021. After a successful return of PiP in May 2022, we have hosted successive conferences in May 2023, May 2024, and May 2025.
Ever since the first big year, the people behind Pandemonium in the Prairies have picked a theme that helps focus efforts on keynotes, on who to highlight, and also what colours to use with our logo and materials. In 2022 we focused on local, and picked purple and green tones from the Saskatoon berry plant (Cree: misâskwatômina) and had people primarily from Saskatchewan and Alberta as our presenters. These colours are still used in the PiP logo.
