This vest is my skin, my armour, and like a book, it tells my Leather story and journey through time and the world through patches and pins.

i have two vests, but this is the one that holds all the main elements that are important to me. It is the one i wear into the heart of Leather spaces. On the front, over my heart, is the patch and rocker for MAsT Greater Vancouver, which i co-direct with Master - Master SirTee. Below are pins which tell the story of – me.

i wear the pink triangle and red ribbon to remember coming out as a lesbian and leather dyke in the 90s; it was a time of fear, loss, - but also resistance. i wear these pins to keep these memories alive. The words silence = death rings true today. Below, are pins that reflect me as a Japanese Canadian (Kamloops Japanese Canadian pin from the early 80s which features a Sakura flower), a Japanese shoyu bottle pin, and the kitsune fox), along with the Rainbow Pride flag, the current Progress Pride flag, and the Leather Pride flag. Aside from the Wicked in the West Conference and the Pandemonium in the Prairies pins, and my Leather brother’s Canadian Leather Pride pin, i will periodically change the event and supporter pins to reflect O/our journey presenting across the US and Canada or meeting amazing people.

For the story about the back patch, i encourage you to read Master SirTee’s story. i promise, it’s a great one.

At the bottom of the back of my vest, is an associate patch to the Herd (a Canadian Leather Family), and a variety of cheeky and fun patches that have been gifted to U/us over the years...and each has it's own story. i hope to return and again to share more.
